Dr. Magruder was born and raised in El Salvador. She moved to Houston in 2006 to attend the University of Houston where she graduated valedictorian with a bachelor’s degree in biology.

Dr. Magruder spent two summers working at Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston, where she conducted research in the field of molecular and cell biology. She received her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the University of Texas School of Dentistry in Houston, where she was awarded the prestigious William S. Kramer Award of Excellence. She completed an additional two years of training and obtained her certificate and master’s degree in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at the UT School of Dentistry.

Dr. Magruder is board certified by the American Board of Orthodontics, and she is a member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, and the Ninth District Dental Society.

In her free time, Sonia and her husband Jeremy like to cook, travel, and spend time with their baby boy Benjamin and Labrador Retriever Boss.
